He has been ruled out and replaced by Mayank Agarwal in the squad. Key players like Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been given rest for the T20I series against Sri Lanka.

For Sri Lanka, all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga is already absent from the series for contracting COVID during previous Australia vs Sri Lanka T20I series. Kusal Mendis and Maheesh Theekshana were also ruled out after India vs Sri Lanka 1st T20I due to injuries. Dhananjaya de Silva and Niroshan Dickwella, who are part of the Test squad, have been added to the T20I squad.
