Man United stars including Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire welcome Mason Mount ‘to the family’ on social media – after completing his £60m switch from rivals Chelsea
Manchester United players have taken to social media to welcome Mason Mount after the England international completed a £60million move from Chelsea on Wednesday.
The midfielder officially became a United player on Wednesday after signing a five-year deal earning him around £250,000-a-week at his new club.
He had been identified as Erik ten Hag’s No 1 priority this summer, but his switch became something of a prolonged transfer tug-of-war between the two Premier League rivals, with the Blues knocking back several bids.
However, after completing a medical at United’s Carrington training facility earlier in the week, his move was finalised on Wednesday, much to the joy of some of his new team-mates.
Club captain and international team-mate Harry Maguire was one of the first to welcome the 24-year-old to Old Trafford.

‘Welcome mate,’ the United skipper posted on his Instagram account, before reposting an image of Mount in the club’s kit with heart-eyes emoji.
And the player that has often taken on the armband for the out-of-favour defender, Bruno Fernandes, was also quick to send a message to his new midfield partner.
‘Why did you take so long to sign?’ the Portuguese star joked over a background of the two facing off on the pitch, before adding: ‘Welcome Mason Mount’
Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot also reposted United’s official photos of Mount in his new kit, writing: ‘Welcome to the family’.
The player has been handed the club’s iconic No 7 shirt as he prepares to begin a new chapter in his playing career.
It was not just current United players who were glad to see the 24-year-old complete the move, either.
Ex-defender Rio Ferdinand was quick to hail Mount and lauded the traits that he can bring to the Red Devils, as they look to re-establish themselves among the Premier League’s elite.
‘Really pleased with Mount coming in,’ he tweeted. ‘Young, talented and hungry. He has the experience of big games with pressure which comes when playing for Utd.

Manager Erik ten Hag had identified the player as his No 1 transfer priority this summer
‘As a player he will bring us goals, creativity, a work ethic and a willing runner into the opposition box.
‘He definitely adds to what we have in the squad and is different from the others in midfield.’
Ten Hag himself was said to be a key part of getting the deal over the line, with the former Ajax boss meeting with the England star to give him clear vision of how he was going to fit into the team next season.
Personal terms are said to have been agreed several weeks ago as United fended off interest from Liverpool and Arsenal.
