A fan ran onto the pitch to get a selfie with Casemiro during Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

The bizarre incident took place in the 55th minute at Selhurst Park with United leading 1-0 thanks to a late first-half strike from Bruno Fernandes, although they eventually drew 1-1 thanks to a late free-kick from Michael Olise.

The match was briefly interrupted when a fan from the home end wearing a bomber jacket ran onto the pitch and took a selfie with Casemiro in the middle of the pitch.

The former Real Madrid star paused and put his arm around the fan to pose for the picture.

Stewards appeared slow to react in attempting to stop the supporter and he was almost off the pitch again before he was met by security, as he was able to continue recording as he wandered off.

Fans have taken to social media to praise the Brazilian midfielder for his composed reaction to the fan.

One fan said: ‘As cool as you like Casemiro.’

A second posted: ‘Lmao Casemiro fully posed as well, he knows he’s loved, what a legend.’

A third tweeted: ‘Casemiro becomes the first player in Premier League history to be so in control of a game he can pose for a selfie with a fan in the middle of the pitch.’

One football fan, simply agreed: ‘Casemiro is class man. Stands there and smiles for the lad.’

Another added: ‘Fair play Casemiro.’

Later on in the game, Casemiro was shown a yellow card for a wild lunge on Wilfried Zaha later on in the contest, meaning the midfielder will now miss Sunday’s huge showdown with Arsenal as a result.

His suspension will be a huge blow for United boss Erik ten Hag, as they look to continue their impressive form since returning from the 2022 World Cup break.

Their impressive winning run was halted, however, as Palace attacker Olise scored a stunning free-kick in the 91st minute to earn the Eagles a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park.
