Naushad Khan, father of Mumbai batting sensation Sarfaraz Khan, has shared an unknown story about his son and Arjun Tendulkar, son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
Both Sarfaraz and Arjun played together in age-level cricket while growing up in Mumbai. At present, both of them are plying their trades in domestic cricket for separate teams. While Sarfaraz Khan has become one of Mumbai’s most important players, Arjun is representing Goa.
Sarfaraz has been one of the most consistent batsmen in domestic circuit in the last few seasons. In the ongoing season, he has smashed 556 runs in six matches at 92.66 including three tons. In the previous two seasons of the Ranji Trophy, the right-handed batsman amassed 928 runs from nine innings at 154.66 and 982 runs from nine innings at 122.75.
Talking about Arjun, he is also having a good outing in his maiden season with Goa. The allrounder smashed a century on his Ranji Trophy debut. With the ball, he has taken 12 wickets in 6 games with a best figure of 3/104.
When Sarfaraz Khan was jealous of Arjun Tendulkar:
In a recent interview, Naushad Khan has revealed how his son was jealous of Arjun during his childhood. Naushad revealed how his son used to compare his life to that of Arjun.
Speaking to the Indian Express, Naushad recalled a young Sarfaraz coming to him and saying: “Abbu, Arjun kitna naseebwala hai na? He’s Sachin sir’s son, and has cars, I-pads, everything.
Sarfaraz, however, was aware of the sacrifices that his father was making for his career. Speaking further, Naushad revealed that after comparing himself with Arjun, Sarfaraz told him: “I’m more fortunate than him. You can devote the entire day to me. His father is not able to give him any time”.
Meanwhile, Sarfaraz recently became the talk of the town after the national selectors once again decided against giving him a call-up for the Test team. The Mumbai star failed to find a spot in India’s squad for the upcoming four-match Test series against Australia.
